A dzong situated in one of the most remote and biologically diverse districts in south-central Bhutan, surrounded by dense subtropical and temperate forests. Zhemgang Dzong serves as the administrative and religious center for the district, which borders Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park and Royal Manas National Park. The district is one of the least developed in Bhutan but boasts extraordinary biodiversity including rare species such as the golden langur and rufous-necked hornbill.
