Tsirang Dzong

The administrative fortress of Tsirang district, located in the capital town of Damphu. Unlike the ancient dzongs of central and western Bhutan, the Tsirang Dzong is a relatively modern construction reflecting the district's establishment as an administrative unit in the 20th century. The dzong serves as the seat of both the district administration and the local monastic body. Situated on a ridge with views of the surrounding subtropical hills and valleys, it represents the southern Bhutanese architectural adaptation of the traditional dzong form.
