The administrative and monastic fortress of Trashi Yangtse district, situated on a hilltop overlooking the Kholong Chhu river valley. Originally built in the 17th century during the era of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the dzong was reconstructed in its current form in 1997 after the district was separated from Trashigang. It houses both the district administration offices and a monastic body, and its name means "fortress of auspicious summit." The dzong features traditional Bhutanese architecture with whitewashed walls and a gold-topped utse (central tower).
