Samtse District Administration

The administrative headquarters of Samtse dzongkhag, Bhutan's most populous district with over 60,000 residents spread across fifteen gewogs. Led by a Dzongdag, the office oversees development programs, revenue administration, and social services in this large and ethnically diverse southern border district. Samtse shares extensive borders with India's West Bengal and Sikkim states, making border management and cross-border coordination an important function of the district administration.
