Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde

An eastern border town and Class A Thromde with a population of approximately 8,000, serving as the primary trade gateway between eastern Bhutan and India's Assam state at around 200 m elevation. The town is a commercial hub for the six eastern dzongkhags, with a busy cross-border market trading in agricultural products, textiles, and consumer goods. It also serves as the eastern entry point for tourists and connects to Trashigang and the rest of eastern Bhutan via the national highway network.
