Punakha Dzongkhag Administration

The district administration for Punakha, Bhutan's former winter capital and one of the most fertile valleys in the kingdom. Administered from the majestic Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, the office oversees eleven gewogs. Punakha district is known for its warm subtropical climate, extensive rice terraces, and the annual Punakha Drubchen and Tshechu festivals that draw visitors from across Bhutan and abroad.
