Phuentsholing Thromde

Bhutan's commercial capital and primary trade gateway, situated at just 300 m elevation on the border with the Indian town of Jaigaon in West Bengal. This Class A Thromde with a population of approximately 30,000 handles over 80% of Bhutan's bilateral trade with India, including imports of fuel, construction materials, and consumer goods. Home to major financial institutions, the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce, and industrial estates, it is the main entry point for overland travelers and commercial traffic.
