Covering 905 km² across Mongar and Zhemgang districts at elevations between 700 m and 4,900 m, Phrumsengla National Park (also known as Thrumshingla National Park) protects some of Bhutan's richest temperate and subtropical forests. The park straddles the Thrumshingla Pass on the east-west highway and is home to the red panda, Himalayan black bear, barking deer, and over 340 bird species including the rufous-necked hornbill and beautiful nuthatch. It forms a critical corridor connecting Wangchuck Centennial NP with Royal Manas NP to the south.
