The eastern branch of the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, located in Trashi Yangtse district, which is historically renowned for its traditional craftsmanship, particularly in woodturning and lacquerware. The institute provides training in the thirteen traditional arts to students from the eastern region, reducing the need for them to travel to Thimphu. Trashi Yangtse is famous for producing dappa (wooden bowls) and other turned-wood items that are among Bhutan's most distinctive traditional crafts.
