Mongar Traditional Medicine Unit

The traditional medicine unit at the Eastern Regional Referral Hospital in Mongar, serving as the primary Sowa Rigpa facility for eastern Bhutan. Staffed by Drungtsho and Menpa practitioners, it provides pulse reading, urinalysis, herbal medicine dispensing, and moxibustion to patients who prefer or benefit from traditional treatment. The unit also serves as a training site for traditional medicine students and supports the collection of medicinal plants from eastern Bhutan's rich biodiversity. Traditional medicine is particularly valued in eastern communities where it has deep cultural roots.
