Lingshi BHU

One of Bhutan's most remote Basic Health Units, serving the highland community of Lingshi in northern Thimphu Dzongkhag at over 4,000 meters elevation. Accessible only by a multi-day trek or horseback, the BHU provides essential primary care, maternal health services, altitude-related illness treatment, and emergency stabilization to semi-nomadic yak-herding families. The facility exemplifies Bhutan's commitment to providing free healthcare access to even its most geographically isolated citizens, a principle enshrined in the country's constitution.
