The companion to Lhakhang Karpo, the Black Temple (Lhakhang Nagpo) is also attributed to the 7th-century temple-building campaign of Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. Dedicated to Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), the temple features dark-timbered walls that give it its distinctive name. Together with the White Temple, it forms the spiritual heart of the Haa Valley. The two temples are central to the annual Haa Summer Festival (Haa Tsechu), which celebrates the valley's unique cultural identity.
