A community-based cooperative in Khoma village supporting the famous Kishuthara textile weavers of Lhuentse district. The cooperative helps market and sell the intricate silk brocade textiles produced by local women, who use supplementary weft techniques passed down through generations. A single high-quality Kishuthara kira can take six months to a year to weave and commands prices of tens of thousands of ngultrums. The cooperative connects weavers to markets in Thimphu and internationally, and has been supported by the Royal Textile Academy.
