Khaling Wildlife Sanctuary

A 273 km² sanctuary in southeastern Bhutan spanning Samdrup Jongkhar district, protecting subtropical and tropical forests at elevations of 400-2,200 m. The sanctuary is a critical habitat for Asian elephants, pygmy hogs, hispid hares, and the golden langur, and connects with Royal Manas National Park through biological corridors. Its lowland forests represent some of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the eastern Himalayas, with over 250 bird species recorded.
