A 1,730 km² protected area spanning the Black Mountains range with elevations from 670 m to 4,925 m across Trongsa, Zhemgang, Sarpang, and Wangdue Phodrang districts. Originally designated as Black Mountain National Park in 1995 and renamed in 2008, it serves as Bhutan's most critical biological corridor — the only unbroken north-south habitat link between Jigme Dorji and Royal Manas national parks. The park boasts over 450 bird species, one of the highest avian densities per unit area in Asia, and the adjacent Phobjikha Valley is a vital wintering ground for the endangered black-necked crane.
