Named after the third King of Bhutan, JDWNRH is the country's largest and only tertiary-care hospital, serving as the apex of Bhutan's free national healthcare system with approximately 381 beds. It offers over 20 specialty departments including cardiology, oncology, neurology, orthopedics, and nephrology, handling referrals from all 20 dzongkhags. The hospital underwent a major expansion with Indian government assistance and serves as the primary teaching hospital affiliated with the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences.
