Gasa Hospital

The district hospital for Gasa Dzongkhag, Bhutan's least populated and most remote district with fewer than 4,000 residents across four gewogs including the highland communities of Laya and Lunana. With approximately 10 beds, it is the smallest district hospital in the country, providing basic medical care, maternal health services, and emergency treatment. The hospital faces unique challenges serving semi-nomadic yak-herding communities at elevations above 3,500 meters, where access is often limited to foot trails and mule tracks.
