Dagana Dzong

Located in the south-central hills of Bhutan, Dagana Dzong serves as the administrative and monastic seat for Dagana District, a predominantly rural region of subtropical valleys and forested hillsides. The original dzong was built in the 17th century during the unification campaigns of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to secure the southern frontier. The district is home to a diverse population including Ngalong, Sharchop, and Lhotshampa communities, and is known for citrus fruit cultivation and cane and bamboo crafts.
