A large Nepalese-style stupa modeled after Swayambhunath in Kathmandu, standing beside the east-west highway between Trongsa and Wangdue Phodrang. Built by Lama Shida in the 18th century to subdue an evil spirit said to have terrorized travelers in the area, the whitewashed chorten features painted all-seeing eyes on each side of its squared tower. A smaller Bhutanese-style chorten stands nearby, dating to the 19th century, and together they mark a traditional rest stop for travelers crossing Bhutan's mountainous central region.
