At 3,988 meters, Chelela Pass is the highest motorable road point in Bhutan, connecting Haa Valley to Paro on a winding mountain road through dense rhododendron and conifer forests. The pass offers spectacular panoramic views of Mount Jomolhari (7,326m) and the surrounding Himalayan peaks on clear days. Prayer flags flutter across the summit, and the area serves as a starting point for day hikes to Kila Goemba, a clifftop nunnery. In winter, the pass often receives snowfall, creating a rare alpine experience in Bhutan.
