Bhutan's sole public broadcaster, originally established as the NYAB radio station in 1973. BBS launched Bhutan's first television channel on June 2, 1999 — coinciding with the Silver Jubilee of King Jigme Singye Wangchuck's coronation and making Bhutan one of the last countries in the world to introduce television. It operates two radio channels (Dzongkha/Sharchop and English/Nepali) alongside its TV channel, providing news, cultural programming, and live coverage of national events in four languages.
